XDI and Veridion unlock a new era of company climate risk analysis
Partnership connects continuous company intelligence with engineering-based climate risk models to reveal where and how physical risk affects companies
NEW YORK, 24 September 2026 — Launched during Climate Week NYC, a new partnership between XDI and Veridion will bring new richness, breadth and depth to company-level physical climate risk analysis.
The partnership combines XDI’s award-winning, bottom-up analysis of global risk to physical assets with Veridion’s AI-enabled intelligence on where and how companies operate. Together, the capabilities will deliver a new sophistication and breadth in decision ready business intelligence on our climate future.
XDI’s Multiple Company Intelligence (MCI) already assesses physical climate risk across more than 40,000 companies and their subsidiaries, even when clients do not have complete asset-location data. With information on approximately 600 million companies and more than two billion buildings, Veridion gives XDI the potential to dramatically expand the scope of MCI. It also takes the analysis further, connecting operating sites to corporate groups and adding detail about each location’s activity, scale and status.
What makes this different?
- Built to ask the right questions: Veridion uses AI-enabled intelligence to map where companies operate, beyond their registered addresses.
- Breadth: More than 600 million locations and two billion buildings mapped across more than 250 countries.
- Depth: Links sites to operating entities and shows what happens there, their estimated scale (revenue, headcount and building footprint), and whether they remain active.
- Sophistication: Site-level confidence indicators let analysts set location and data-quality thresholds for screening, stress testing and due diligence.
- Accuracy and currency: Veridion reports approximately >95% accuracy, validated by clients and extensive internal testing, with data refreshed weekly
- Sharper decisions: See which companies and sites drive the most risk, informing investment and lending decisions and helping focus due diligence and company engagement.
Florin Tufan, CEO of Veridion, said: “An address is an essential starting point and we have more than two billion buildings mapped. But to understand the risk and resilience a company actually carries, you also need to know what happens there and how critical that operation is to the wider business. We connect sites to the companies behind them and add the operational detail analysts need. Combined with XDI’s climate and engineering models, that gives us the potential to assess company risk at a scale and level of detail that was previously out of reach.”
What can the partnership deliver?
XDI can apply its climate, engineering and financial models to these mapped locations to assess hazard exposure, asset vulnerability, expected physical damage and disruption. Analysis can extend across time horizons and climate scenarios, with results aggregated from individual assets to companies and portfolios. It can also incorporate selected indicators of disruption through critical infrastructure, regional economies and supply chains.
The richer operating picture also supports more sophisticated questions: which locations matter most to a company, which businesses contribute most to a portfolio’s risk, and where could adaptation make the greatest difference? Analysis of physical risk can be combined with evidence of how companies are preparing for and responding to it.
The partnership is already being applied in a collaboration with Morningstar Sustainalytics to further develop its physical climate risk product for asset managers and asset owners. The goal is to close a key gap in existing tools: translating asset-level exposure to climate hazards into financially relevant insights that can inform investment decisions.
