XDI wins Climate Data Provider of the Year at InsuranceERM awards

22 October 2026

XDI (Cross Dependency Initiative) has won Climate Data Provider of the Year in the InsuranceERM Climate Risk & Sustainability Awards 2026.

Its winning submission, Climate intelligence built for action, set out how XDI combines climate science, engineering and technology to help organisations understand physical climate risk and identify opportunities to prevent damage and disruption.

Established in 2017 by a team working on physical climate risk since 2007, XDI provides analysis for financial institutions, businesses and governments worldwide. Its modelling examines how climate hazards interact with assets’ design, construction and resilience characteristics, translating the results into potential financial and operational impacts.

XDI CEO Karl Mallon said the award recognised the importance of making climate intelligence useful for decisions.

“This award reflects the work our team has put into bringing XDI’s award-winning analysis into the XDI Climate Risk Hub - an on-demand platform shaped around the needs of our clients,” said XDI CEO Karl Mallon.

From identifying risk to prioritising resilience

Among the developments highlighted in XDI’s submission was Automated Resilience, a capability within the XDI Climate Risk Hub that screens adaptation potential across large portfolios of assets.

Other developments highlighted in the submission included:

  • expanded analysis of indirect risks transmitted through infrastructure and supply chains
  • company-level intelligence mapping global market indices and covering the bulk of global economic output
  • and ResilienceArc - a collaboration connecting physical climate risk analysis with evidence of corporate adaptation.

XDI’s technology also powers the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Physical Risk Assessment Platform, supporting physical climate risk analysis for Hong Kong banks.

“Some of the most demanding client problems lead us to develop new capabilities. We then work to make those capabilities available more widely through the Hub, APIs and partner platforms,” Mallon said.

“The aim is to put rigorous analysis into more people’s hands - and help them use it to build resilience.”
